Computer
Literacy for
Medical Professionals
Introduction to IBM Compatible
Computers and Components,
DOS, (Disk Operation System), word processors, data base managers,
spread
sheets, and medical office management programs. With the extensive use
of
computers in modern medical facilities, this course is designed to
familiarize
an individual with the basic use and operation of an IBM PC type
computer and
its application in medicine. It should be noted that since Windows
based
programs often “crash” and can lose all of the patient records, many
medical facilities
still use non Windows programs such as DOS based programs that do not
use a
mouse or icons. The course topics will include;
- Introduction to the basic
IBM compatible computer
- Introduction to DOS
- Introduction to word
processing
- Introduction to spread
sheets
- Introduction to data base

- Final practical and
