The Art of Drawing Blood This course will have 40 hours of practical procedures. Over 300 practice venipunctures, 5 skin Punctures, 50 practical examinations (actual venipunctures, the last one in front of a physician who will sign the Certificate of Completion for the practical course.) Students successfully completing this course and satisfying all graduation requirements will earn a Certificate of Completion that complies with all known California laws and regulations requiring 40 hours of practical training. In order to become registered as a Phlebotomy Technician by the state of California the student will also need to complete; - 40 hours of Didactic training
- A clinical internship
- Become Nationally Certified.
Course Length - One night a week
- Four hours a night
- 10 weeks
- Possible trips to other campuses for extra classes as needed
Home Work Time Required - 80 practice venipunctures a week using practice kit
- Study 4 nights a week 3 to 4 hours a night
Practical Examinations Successful performance on the practical examinations will require passing a sequence of increasingly complex phlebotomy procedures including choosing correct tubes and working within time limits. All 50 practical examinations require at least an “ok” to pass. All 50 venipunctures are practical examinations. 1. One practice venipuncture using the syringe technique 2. 15-20 actual venipunctures using the syringe technique 3. One practice venipuncture using the vacuum tube technique 4. 20-35 actual venipuncture using the vacuum tube technique
